Everything Nook saves stays in your browser, on your computer. Nook has no accounts and no servers, and it never sends your tabs, notes or thumbnails anywhere.
When a tab rests in Nook, Nook saves what it needs to show the tab to you again and reopen it:
Nook takes a thumbnail of the tab you are looking at, about two seconds after it loads, using Chrome’s built-in screenshot feature for the visible tab. It shrinks the picture to a small image and keeps it in your browser. Nook takes thumbnails on every site by default. In Settings you can list sites that should never get one; their tabs are still saved, without a picture.
Your data is stored with Chrome’s extension storage and in your browser’s local database (IndexedDB) on this computer. It is not synced to your Google account or to other devices, and Nook does not send it to the developer or to anyone else. Opening a saved tab simply loads that website, as any link would. Nook uses your saved data only to show, sort and reopen your tabs.
If you turn on the weekly Read later reminder, Nook shows a Chrome notification built from your own saved tabs. Optional fading of unread tabs is off unless you turn it on, and it only ever deletes items after telling you first.

|---|---|
| Tabs | Find tabs you haven’t looked at, close them when they rest, and reopen them later. |

| Alarms | Check for idle tabs every 15 minutes and schedule the weekly reminder. |
| Notifications | Show the optional weekly reminder and fading notices. |

Nook’s use of information it receives adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Nook does not use your data for advertising, does not transfer it to third parties, and does not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
Nook is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.
If Nook ever starts handling data differently, for example to offer paid features or optional sync, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
